Summer Inspiration

Wow, the summer has crept away without a single post from yours truly.  I must be getting old and forgetful— lame excuses for not blogging, I know!  Hopefully, you're enjoying these long summer days.  I know that I am—fleeting as though they may seem. 

Today, I wanted to post a blog from a contributing writer to Penn Central Parent.  Although I'm not a parent of a special needs child, I thought that the piece was really compelling and demonstrates the challenges that those who have Cerebral Palsy may face.  It was refreshing to me that a parent gave a voice to some of the trials we who have disabilities cope with. Finding Inspiration

Here’s another article I hope my readers find inspiring.  Let’s give our best as she prepares to reach her ultimate goal at the Paralympic Games this summer.  Kudos to this young woman who is following her dreams so wholeheartedly!

New Project

I can’t tell you how much I’m excited to begin to read Ghost Boy by Martin Pistorius and complete a book review for it.  After seeing last night’s news clip about it, I’m interested to read about this young man’s journey and his courageous battle to communicate.  When I read a synopsis of the book, it reminded me that we all have our unique wars to fight, but it’s the way we wage them that makes all the difference.

Teddy

I just read the article and viewed this short film created by parents who have two children; one has Cerebral Palsy and the other does not.  I was captivated, not only by the siblings love for one another, by her ultimate acceptance of him, and it made me tear up.  I hope you as inspired as I am every time I see this.

Temple Grandin

I watched this lecture today and was totally blown away.  It reminded me of the book review I wrote for my last internship.  For me, Dr. Grandin is the definition of “differently abled.”  I truly hope you’ll be impressed as I when I watched this video.

A Life Lived Beyond Reason

I came across this article yesterday.  It’s somewhat old, but it spoke volumes about how the mind has to go beyond reason to enjoy life’s blessings as they are bestowed on us—one of my deeply held beliefs.  I hope you read and enjoy this article as much as I did.  It’s certainly worth pondering! Story
