Cheering Him On

I came upon this news clip today and thought it was totally inspiring.  Even though it is old, this shows what true determination brings if one has a mindset for success.  Once again, I thank you for your continuing support as I embark on my final semester!  Writing my blog has been one of the joys of my weekly routine for 2 ½ years and I’m truly grateful for your readership!  And now, the video!

Believe

Today, I saw an article that reminded me a person’s potential is never known until it is tested and how powerful believing in yourself can be.  Dr. Sheehan was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at a young age and doctors gave little or no hope she would be a success.  Contrary to their belief, she completed an undergraduate degree in psychology, (with honors), then received her doctorate in the same field.  Reading this article only made me want to strive harder in my life and make a difference to those dearest to my heart, like Dr. Sheehan.  As my internship with United Cerebral Palsy ends, I hope believing in myself caused an impact in someone’s life, (more than one, with a bit of luck) while I had fun along the way.  It’s been a great ride this summer!

Happy Anniversary

Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s been two weeks since I began my internship at United Cerebral Palsy. I absolutely love it. It amazes me an organization, such as UCP, touches the lives of so many people in so many ways. To be part of that is awesome! I feel a great sense of accomplishment because I dreamed of this moment for years. This is the culminating event in my mind. To be honored with such an opportunity is still astonishing.As one of my first assignments, I read Get Up, Your Bus is Here by Stephen Dantzig. I was in total awe of his determination, and, ultimately, success. In his book, he leaves readers with parting advice, “the risks are greater, so are the payoffs. Don’t fear success.” Even though that is true for all of us, which is especially true for me. Payoffs are much greater than risks. My internship proves that everyday!
