Coming down the Home Stretch

Today, I took time to reflect on the fact I only have a week of school left of spring semester 2013.  That’s pretty amazing, if I do say so myself!  As each milestone passes on my remarkable journey, I sometimes stop to reflect on how far I’ve come in these last few years. This semester proved to be a rewarding, yet challenging experience.  Though I miss the life of academia, it’s always refreshing to be released from its duties.  Summer is just around the corner, and I’m ready to bask in its welcomed sun.  Let it begin!

This is another inspirational clip I thought you would all enjoy.  It really shows what real perseverance means, at least, it does for me!

I hope you have a good weekend!

Ernest Hemingway

Every man's life ends the same way. It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another.
~ Ernest Hemingway ~

Today, I found this quote and think it’s pertinent to all of our lives.  We all meet our demise in someway, but it is the impact while we’re still here that matters.   Food for thought as we travel on the road called life.

Thank you all for following my blog.  It means so much as I finish the last few weeks of the semester.  I hope you have a great weekend!

Happy Easter

This week, I want to express my deepest feelings about this time of year and what it personally represents to me as a believer of faith.  Easter and Spring always gives me a feeling of renewal and a new handle on life.  It gladdens my heart to celebrate the holiday with family and friends, knowing that this is an opportunity to be grateful for what I have in my life and that I am truly blessed.

Happy Easter, everyone!

Friends

I awoke this morning with devout thanksgiving for my friends, the old and the new.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

I received a card today with this saying from a dear friend and it spoke volumes to me.  With the end of the semester rapidly approaching, I sometimes forget the value of friends.  Those friends give the impotus to carry on, no matter the burden.  They do for me, at least. and that keeps me afloat in daunting days.  Thank you for those who have faith in me, for it diminishes all barriers I face in this world!

The Journey Within

The only journey is the journey within.
Rainer Maria Rilke

I came across this quote today and thought it was fitting for an entry.  This saying is appealing because it is so true for me.  I feel as if I’m continuously growing, experiencing, and hopefully, going towards and knowing my inner light.  As humans, we, at times, forget we illuminate others with our own light, and if it dims slightly for a day, others can tell.  The above quote is true in one sense, but in another way, it is not.  I believe if we connect to just only one person in our lives, then our task as living beings is complete.  As I was reminded earlier this week, our inner light can illuminate others so much that the whole world sees it.  That makes it all worth it in the end.

In Motion

“Be not afraid of growing slowly; be afraid only of standing still.”  ~Chinese Proverb

Welcome to a new month!  Although it’s been a hectic week, it has been a good one.  As I flipped my calendar today, the above adage popped out and it certainly spoke to me at this time in the semester, but, more importantly, at this time of my life.  Overwhelmed with challenging courses and having a lack of energy, I sometimes have the inclination to shut off my mind, fearing the worst to come.  Fear has the ability to do that to everyone, to make immobile, but if it is pushed aside, something beautiful grows out of it.  This week proved to me if I keep going, something good always appears from my efforts.  The tortoise won the race, you know.  We all should keep that in mind, don’t you think?  :)

Have a good weekend, all!
